On Monday 17th October the BMS boccia team took part in the National Pan Disability School League Final held at the Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Stoke-on-Trent.  The qualifying games had been played earlier in the year and Bushey Meads won the regional heats.

Sadly, Mrs. Cooper, key to the organisation of the trip, was unable to attend as she dislocated her shoulder in a hockey match the day before our departure.  The team vowed to “make her proud” as we set off from school.

Arriving at the sports complex at 9.15am, sporting the new team t-shirts, we registered and had time for some practice throws and tactical discussions before the final games began.  The team, captained by Michael Pope and Rebecca Sullivan had to play 3 matches in the first “pool” to gain a place in the semi-finals. Against tough competition Michael, Rebecca, Jack Benton, Charlie Baker, Jodie Hall, and Lola Chappell fought their way through, winning the first game 7 – 1, the second 12 – 0 and the third 18 – 0!
