epb20161007-1

epb20161007-2This week it was a real privilege to experience one of those ‘moments in time’ of real inspiration. On Tuesday morning I visited Stoke Mandeville National Stadium, home of the very first Paralympic Games in 1948 and saw our superb BASE students competing in the WheelPower National Junior Games.

All the students clearly loved taking part in the varied sporting activities and using all the state of the art equipment, but they also clearly gained a huge amount from being with each other and the staff in the residential context; eating and sleeping together and building up those all-important bonds of trust when you live together as a family.

Above all the students as always were fantastic and a real credit to our school. I would like to congratulate all the students who participated – many of whom were rising to the challenges in a whole range of sports and achieving personal bests in the highly competitive events. I would also like to thank all the staff who went and looked after them and supported them through the week. Already many students and parents have joined with me in thanking them for really ‘going the extra mile.’

Another great occasion this week was the BMS Has Talent Show and I would like to congratulate all the students who took part in this now annual House event. It was superb!
