Key Stage Three Curriculum

The curriculum is under review for September 2015, but currently stands as described below.

Year 7

Students are placed into three ability pathways, with further setting within those pathways. Students are taught subjects according to the number of hours per fortnight shown in brackets.

Pathway one and two students study the following subjects in their pathway groups: English(7), French (3), Spanish (3), Geography (3), History (3), Maths 6) PSHE (2), RE (2), Science (5), PE (4). Pathway one students also study the following subjects in broader ability groups: Art (2), Drama (2), Future Skills (6), Music 2). Future Skills consists of Design Technology and Computing and is taught through a range of projects incorporating both subjects.

Pathway three students study Art (2), Drama (2), English (6), French/Spanish (6), Maths (5), Music (2), Opening Minds (12), Science (5). Opening Minds consists of all humanities subjects and is taught through a range of multi-disciplinary projects.

Year 8 and 9

Students are placed into two ability pathways, with further setting of subjects within those pathways.

Pathway one and two students study the following subjects in their pathway groups: English (6), French (3), Spanish (3) Geography (3), History (3), PSHE (2), RE (2), Maths (6), Science (6), Technology (4), Computing (4), PE (4), Art (2), Drama (2), Music (2).
