The Governing Body of Bushey Meads School

The Governing Body of Bushey Meads School consists of a total of 20 Governors and the breakdown of the categories of these governors can be found on the separate ‘List of Governors’ page.

Our Governing Body is represented by a wide breadth of knowledge and experience from a variety of backgrounds, and some of our Governors have served on our Governing Body for in excess of 10 years which in turn adds to the strength of their knowledge of the school. These Governors serve on one or more of our committees and of course all meet termly at the Full Governing Body meetings.

The Governing Body considers training a high priority in terms of ensuring all Governors are kept fully up to date with all legislation, procedures and County guidance to enable them to perform their role as strategic partner and critical friend as effectively as possible. Governors therefore regularly receive training, either collectively as a whole Governing Body training session, as a committee, or where appropriate individually at training courses provided by County Governance.

Our most recently appointed Governors both joined us in November and for your information this is why they wanted to join the Governing Body:

MISS NICKY CARR – Parent Governor

I am passionate about the advantages a good education provides young adults entering a global marketplace. In particular I am interested in a child’s love for learning and helping them realise the benefits of fulfilling their individual potential. I graduated from Bushey Meads with a BTEC in Business and Finance and have been self-employed since I was 24 years old; I bring my varied experience of setting up and running my own business and my experience as a mother of two children to the role of Governor.

MR AHSAN ASHTER – Staff Governor

I am currently in my fourth year as Teacher of Design & Technology at Bushey Meads. Since my arrival I have created and developed the curriculum for the popular and successful G&T summer school which has received much praise form parents and the LEA. My role within the department is as teacher of Graphics and D&T G&T co-ordinator. Where appropriate I have offered my services outside of the department.
I feel that my teaching expertise combined with my background in industry have awarded me with the key skills of communicating and leadership that are requirements of this post. I have earned the respect of colleagues, parents and students alike. I am keen to be of assistance and offer support to the running and development of the school and its community.
