A Happy New Year to all! As I stood at the gate this morning welcoming the students back it was good to see so many smiling faces arriving promptly. I trust everyone had a restful break and I am confident that the students have returned with enthusiasm and confidence to make 2014 a personal success for each of them. For those with public examinations this year may I take this opportunity to wish your child every success with their studies and exams and please rest assured that the school will do everything it can to help your child achieve his/her full potential.

Whilst I write I thought it probably worth just reminding you of our procedure should we experience any extreme inclement weather over the next couple of months. This was detailed to you back in November I know but I list below the three ways we would communicate with you should we have to close the school:

WEBSITE: www.busheymeads.org.uk is your first port of call. If a decision were to be taken that the school is closed due to inclement weather then a message would always be posted here on the home page as soon as the decision is made. If there is no message then the school is open as normal.

As a back up to this message, a groupcall EMAIL and TEXT message would also be sent out to all who have provided us with either of these contact details. (If you have recently changed your mobile number or email account please let us know).

For our new Year 7 parents/carers I would point out that we do not close the school due to inclement weather unless it is really necessary. The local schools consult on this issue and follow the advice of County and the local Police. Our focus is always for the safety of our students, parent body and staff.
