Year 13 Enrichment Day 28 November 2012

Wednesday 28th November 2012 was our year 13 career enrichment day which is an annual event that was organised by Mrs McIldowie and Mrs Biggerstaff.  The event involves corporate / business representatives offering their services to the school by interviewing our year 13 students.

We would like to thank all our valued guests on that day for giving up their valuable time and for their support in making this event such a success.  Thanks go to our Chair of Governors Di Hoeksma and Nigel Luff (Head of Borough Forensic Science), Lorraine Marshall (Watford Chamber of Commerce), Ian Douglas, Lorraine Clark, Brian Ferry and Claire Sweetenham (University of Hertfordshire), Peter Walker (KPMG), Linda Kay (John Lewis), Michael Niles (WENTA) and Ria Jafari and Stephen Imber (PGCE at Bushey Meads School).

Students took their CV and personal statement with them to the interview where they were asked questions relating to their education / career ambitions.  They were offered valuable feedback on their interview skills, quality of CV and personal statement and were given guidance for improvement where necessary.

Comments received from the business personnel were that our students were sensible, mature and articulate and were a delight to interview.  Our student feedback was equally good with many saying a big thank you for the opportunity to have an interview – for many it was a first time experience.  They agreed that it was useful to have an outside body commenting on technique, body language and interview skills and that the day had been extremely worthwhile.

We would also like to congratulate our students on their preparation, both in terms of their written documents and their smart appearance.  The students arrived at their appointments punctually and came with a positive attitude and they were excellent ambassadors forBusheyMeadsSchool!
