Executive Principal’s Blog – 1 May 2015

It has been really encouraging to see all the emails and letters from parents thanking the BMS staff for providing so many opportunities, both in and out of school, to our hard working Year 11, 12 and 13 students as they prepare for their hugely important examinations at GCSE, AS and A2 level.

Our staff really do ‘go the extra mile’ and this week every student in Year 11 – 13 will be receiving a personalised timetable to boost achievement in the run up to their exams. The timetable maximizes the opportunities for contact time with teachers who are still completing important revision lessons, honing exam technique and providing detailed feedback following completion of exam questions from past papers.

In addition, special revision sessions have also been timetabled to support a focus just before each examination – either during the morning (for an afternoon exam) or the afternoon before. These carefully tailored sessions will alleviate those last minute anxieties and provide reminders of key strategies to gain those extra marks and maximise success. Students taking afternoon examinations will be able to access an early lunch and experience a calm time to gather their thoughts before entering the exam hall.

Teachers will continue to staff all lessons right up until the last exam. Where courses have finished and students have taken the final examination in that subject, the teachers will be available to supervise and support with ongoing revision for the remaining examinations.

This will ensure that every student has the best opportunity to achieve the very best grades possible in August and complements our students’ continued independent study at home, after school and at weekends.
