Executive Principal’s Blog – 17.4.20: ‘Your Voice is Important’

As I explained last week I wouldn’t normally write an EP’s Blog during a holiday period, but during these unusual times it seems appropriate to communicate once again to all students, staff, parents and carers, Governors and Trustees and wish you all the very best and thank you for your ongoing support. I do hope you and all your loved ones continue to be safe and well.                   Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

From what I am hearing, most of us are finding aspects of where we are at challenging and are genuinely looking forward to getting back to some kind of normality in our lives. Many of our students are genuinely missing the routine of school, the challenge of learning (when supported by our outstanding teachers) and that strong community feel of our school and the positive relationships that exist here between all stakeholders.

Our students have always had an important and significant involvement in our school community through the many important roles that they play in the leadership structure here at BMS. Not least through the 60 strong Student Parliament that works alongside the Senior Leadership Team of the school to shape our future. We all know that student achievement and engagement increases when students have more ownership of their school community and their learning and that is why at BMS we encourage so many students to get involved.

Our House Captains, Prefects, Senior Prefects, Executive Leadership Team and of course our Head Boy Ben and Head Girl Georgina in particular have made a massive contribution to school life over many years. Many of the changes that have made at the school over the last few years have been as a direct result of their voice being heard.

This week our Head Boy Ben has recorded a short video message to remind you of our school community and the value we place on you the students. I hope, like me, you enjoy seeing his friendly face and hearing his honesty and wisdom at this current time. Do click on the link below to see Ben’s message:

Finally, I wish you all a very happy weekend and do click on the link if you didn’t get a chance to read our latest BMS News published on Friday 3rd April.
