Initial Teacher Training programme (ITT)
Bushey Meads School offers opportunities for those looking to join the teaching profession and provides a well-rounded experience. We hold training partnerships with the University of Hertfordshire, Institute of Education (UCL), University of East London (UEL) as well as the Watford Partnership to offer placements through the Uni-led PGCE or Schools Direct (unsalaried) routes, across a range of subject areas.
Trainee teachers will receive one-to-one support from their specialist Placement Mentor, within their subject area, as well as the Lead Mentor, who oversees and supports the whole placement experience. The school-based training is supplemented with professional training sessions, which discuss the investigating elements of teaching and pedagogy, to complement their experience of classroom teaching.
Trainee teachers will receive one-to-one support from their specialist Subject Mentor, the Professional Coordinating Mentor and via the weekly professional training sessions, which compliment their experience of classroom teaching.
Trainees will also be supported and included in our extensive whole school CPD programme, providing opportunities for further development throughout their time with us.

Early Career Teachers Programme (ECT’s)
Bushey Meads School provides lots of support for ECT’s. We follow the Educational Development Trust core entitlement programme and are affiliated with the Watford Partnership for Teacher Training with Herts For Learning being our awarding body.
ECTs will receive one-to-one support through weekly mentor meetings. They will join with other ECT’s during our supportive school based training sessions which are run by the Induction Tutor and facilitated by the Teaching and Learning Team. They will also get the opportunity to meet other ECT’s from across the county through the Watford Partnership CPD programme.
