Executive Principal’s Blog – 18.12.20: “Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for 2021.”
As we come to the end of one of the busiest autumn terms in recent times, I would like to thank all staff, students, parents, governors and trustees for their ongoing hard work and support for the school. It has been an immense achievement to keep the school open throughout this term and everyone has played their part in making sacrifices and going the extra mile to put our learners first.
As a school we have a responsibility to report any student cases of Covid-19 and track and trace any known contacts with students from Bushey Meads School, even during the Christmas holiday period. With that in mind, please do look out for the regular email communications that will be sent out throughout the holiday period which will provide a link to our Covid-19 Holiday Reporting System.
Statistics are continuing to indicate that, despite all the efforts schools and families are making, the virus is spreading a lot through asymptomatic carriers and those with non-Covid symptoms – 48% in total. This is confirmed by the cases we have had to deal with this term. In addition, a significant number of students are being identified as being infected through a family member not associated with the school. The data must remind us that we are all in this together and we must avoid any sense of blame. The important thing is to be kind and continue playing our part in trying to keep each other safe.
Despite the obvious challenges that we have had to face as a school community, we have had so many positive things to celebrate this term and can be really proud of all our ongoing achievements.
We all hope that 2021 brings the peace and relative normality that we are all longing for and will be an even more successful chapter in the Bushey Meads history; I look forward with you to exciting future developments in the life of the school.
