Executive Principal’s Blog – 18.7.25: ‘Small Actions Speak Loudly!’
It has been a really positive way to end another very busy academic year with our usual Prize Giving Assemblies that have taken place over the last two days for all year groups in the school. Parents and carers joined us at the events and we were all immensely proud seeing so many students receive certificates for subject awards, extracurricular contributions, having a real mind to be kind, or receiving the prestigious CDC awards and trophies. Our students continue to work hard and thrive in lessons across and beyond the school. I was reminded this week of one of our star Year 9 students Lily who took part in an epic fundraising event for Dementia UK, walking over 100 miles during a two-month period earlier this term. This followed the loss of her beloved grandfather in November 2024 and saw her actively raising money for all those suffering or experiencing loss to some form of dementia. Together with her father she raised nearly £1,000!
On a similar note I also received an email from a local resident providing feedback about the kind behaviour of a student in the local Tesco store one morning this week. Demonstrating excellent leadership, they encouraged three other students to move out of the way of some shoppers who wanted to get past and apologised on their behalf; the others then following suit and also apologised. They described the student as a ‘credit to the school’ and said that the group as a whole left a positive and lasting impression of Bushey Meads School on the wider community.
As we end another academic year and all look forward to a very well-deserved summer break, I would like to thank all parents and carers for the important part that they play in partnering so positively with the school. The little things we do speak loudly – in and out of school.
