Executive Principal’s Blog – 22.9.23: ’A Week of Important Visitors to BMS’

This week it has been great to welcome some important visitors to Bushey Meads School and showcase the excellent work we are doing across all curriculum areas. On Wednesday we welcomed Liz Green – the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Chris Myers – the Mayor of Hertsmere and Councilor Chris Gray to our school.

They had heard about our excellent work in the area of reading, writing and literacy, as well as some of our more alternative and exciting curriculum programmes on offer and wanted to come and see for themselves the great work being done to support all our students to Aspire to Achieve. They were immensely impressed with the dedicated staff and high engagement of students across a number of curriculum areas. The students they met were superb ambassadors for our school.

A huge number of visitors also came to our school for our annual and hugely successful Year 6 Open Evening yesterday. So many commented about the very positive culture and atmosphere across the school and the excellent students and staff they met. A huge thank you goes to all our wonderful student ambassadors and Head Students Alex and Ibiso and Year 7 student Olivia who delivered excellent speeches to packed audiences in the Main Hall, as well as Stephan in Year 13 who performed a brilliant piano solo. Over the next few weeks we will be welcoming many hundreds more visitors for our Open Mornings and tours of the school – a great way to see the school in action on a typical day.

With very best wishes for a lovely weekend. Do click on the link to read this week’s BMS News.
