Executive Principal’s Blog – 23.5.25 ‘Inspiring Students at All Levels’
Over the last two weeks students have attended some inspiring House Assemblies and we continue to appreciate the impact that our hard-working Heads of House and Student Leaders are having in embedding further our already strong family ethos at Bushey Meads School. An inspiring student leadership conference took place this morning with student leaders from across our Multi Academy Trust presenting their thoughts in our main hall about what it means to be a great student leader. It was superbly led by our Senior Student Leaders who, over the past few months, have been working with some excellent leaders from Hartsbourne and Little Reddings Primary Schools on a really collaborative and informative project. This morning was an inspiring event that marked the culmination of their hard work and building of such positive relationships across the three schools in our MAT.
So many of our students are continuing to work hard in their own learning journey through life to encourage and inspire each other to Aspire to Achieve, not just in their public and end of year examinations, but also in all the wider opportunities that Bushey Meads affords and encourages. By way of reminder, over the next two Saturdays in the half term holiday between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm we are continuing to run our Study Saturdays in the LRC for Year 11 and 13 students as they continue to revise and take their all-important external exams.

I would also like to remind all students to go through their exercise books very carefully this half term week and ensure that all marking and feedback stickers have been completed properly and spelling, punctuation and grammar corrections have been made. Ensure that you have also responded to those powerful instructions and comments that all teachers are giving you to ensure that you really maximise the progress you are making at BMS. Research shows that, if you get this process right, you can add the equivalent of an additional 9 months learning in one year.
This week I have been inspired by some of the new Year 6 students we have met in our Year 6 induction interviews, conducted by members of our Leadership and Pastoral Teams – students aspiring to become lawyers, talented in the arts and sporting arenas and even those who already speak two languages fluently! At this very busy time of year our ongoing recruitment drive to secure the very best teachers to come and work in our school continues and I am delighted to report that we have recently appointed some really talented staff, supporting our efforts to move forward towards an even more positive future. We look forward to celebrating much further success over the coming months and years. Do enjoy a well-deserved rest this week and don’t forget to click on the link and enjoy reading more of this week’s BMS News…….. Jeremy Turner Executive Principal |
