Executive Principal’s Blog – 26.5.23: ‘Daily Inspiring Moments’
As we head towards a well-deserved half term holiday, this week has been a week of inspiring moments for staff and students. Visiting our outdoor education provision was an inspiring moment for me to see on Monday morning. In September it was a germ of an idea in Mr Smith and Travis’ minds, but is now an absolute reality. The Ed Shed is a great workshop where outdoor furniture is being designed and made from recycled materials, alongside raised beds that have been created to grow vegetables and plants as part of our growing green agenda.
The Visit of Hero Slinn – Director for Inclusion and Skills in Hertfordshire included an inspiring tour of ‘The Laurel’ the major £1.3 million refurbishment project of A Block to create a state-of-the-art Specialist Resource Provision that will become a hub for learning across the local area.
Attending the graduation ceremony at the end of the intensive training day for our 18, newly appointed student Mental Health Champions was another inspiring highlight of the week – pictured here with their lanyards and certificates. A huge thank you to Assistant Headteacher Mrs Greenwood for organising the recent assemblies and training event.
On Wednesday morning international Paralympian weightlifter Chris Rattenbury inspired a packed Main Hall of Year 7 and 8 students and staff as he told his powerful story of the challenges he had faced and overcome and the accomplishments he had made.
For Year 11 and 13 students, don’t forget the third Study Saturday takes place this week from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm in the LRC.
