Executive Principal’s Blog – 4.4.25 ‘Onwards and Upwards’

We have now received the final report following the recent Ofsted Inspection that took place at the school in January of this year.

It has taken a long time to send us the final report, due to a lengthy quality assurance process. This was related to judgements made by Ofsted linked to effect of the national teacher recruitment crisis and the lower than national average attendance of some students on roll, which we have been working hard with parents and carers in this post-Covid pandemic era to improve.

These factors do limit judgements that Ofsted inspectors can make in line with their inspection framework and needed careful consideration.

It is pleasing to note that the inspectors recognised that the school is a calm and inclusive place to learn, provides a rich variety of trips and experiences, as well as high quality leadership opportunities and that students have confidence in staff to address any concerns.

The real strengths of the personal development programme, our Sixth Form provision and the recognition that the majority of students have positive relationships with staff and each other are also strongly noted.

The areas for improvement focus on supporting all staff to use the school’s Positive Behaviour for Learning Policy, working with parents and carers to improve attendance and strengthening assessment for learning in lessons. These align completely with the School Improvement Plan accessed via the school website.

We look forward to building on the success of recent years and addressing these important areas of our school moving forward. Thank you for your continued support and I hope you and your families have a restful and enjoyable break.
