Executive Principal’s Blog – 6.3.20: ‘Helping to share a million stories!’
One of the highlights of this week has been to see so many staff and students engage with World Book Day on Thursday. With staff sharing their favourite, most impacting book at the start of every lesson and additional time in the morning being given to encouraging students to read within a set DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Moment for 30 minutes during lesson 1, it was a high profile event at BMS that reminded us all of the power of reading and developing our literacy to the next level.
Students had the opportunity to collect a £1 off voucher to spend on the purchase of a book and a themed bake-competition and sale (which was simply superb to see) added to the fun; the creations were amazing!
I would like to thank Lead Practitioner of English and Whole School Literacy Ms Bowe and Ms Turton our hard working and inspirational Learning Resource Centre Manager for taking the lead in arranging such a great day in school.
