Executive Principal’s Blog – 7.2.25: ‘A Credit to BMS’
It is always lovely to receive positive feedback from visitors to the school about the polite and engaging behaviour of our students; when it is from members of the public who visit a number of different schools, it has even more gravitas and meaning. Fran Brooman who runs Mini First Aid and works with many schools, emailed Bushey Meads last week saying: ‘I just wanted to drop you an email to say thank you for inviting me into Bushey Meads School to deliver the Teens First Aid Session. For all those attended, they were fantastic with their knowledge of First Aid; they had lovely manners they are all a credit to the school. Great at asking questions and had some fun taking part in the hands-on part of the afternoon. It was a real pleasure teaching them!’ The session was arranged in response to student voice at BMS requesting a first aid training session. We are hoping to build on the success of the first one by arranging some more. On Wednesday morning of this week a group of senior leaders from the school and across the Trust were invited to the Department for Education to share the exemplary work they are doing to raise the levels of attendance It was a really productive and positive meeting and Joe Farrell, East of England Region Lead, assured us that he will be taking the information we shared to Senior Ministerial level, being such a key agenda for the Prime Minister’s Office. As parents and carers do continue to play your part and ensure your children are aiming for 100% attendance and nothing less than 95%. Attendance continues to be one of the key drivers to improve attainment, so it’s really important to make attendance at school a real priority.
