Executive Principal’s Blog – 8.11.24: ‘Dr Cat Scutt MBE at BMS’

It was a real privilege to welcome Dr Cat Scutt to Bushey Meads School and the Bushey St James Trust on Monday morning this week. She delivered a keynote speech to launch our annual conference across the Multi Academy Trust. Speaking to our staff, who had also been joined by external delegates from a number of local schools, she shared compelling research data indicating how important it is to establish a strong culture of collaboration. This resonated strongly with leaders across the school and the MAT at all levels who all work hard to share best practice from within and beyond our schools.

Cat is currently the Deputy Chief Executive, Education and Research at the Chartered College of Teaching, as well as the Independent Chair of the Cornwall Education Partnership but she has worked at the chalk face in a number of schools locally and further afield so she spoke from real experience. Her message underpinned the rest of the conference, which was based around outstanding staff from across the MAT leading inspirational workshops under the umbrella theme of Establishing Engaging Enriching Experiences.

Lots of great discussions took place and a vast amount of best practice was shared. With planning and development time being allocated on the day and also next week, we are all looking forward to seeing the positive impact of the day in classrooms across the school and the Trust.

With very best wishes for a good weekend.
