Executive Principal’s Blog – 11.10.19: ‘BMS Staff Showcased at National Conference.
 It was a real privilege to be able to represent Bushey Meads School at the recent By Leaders for Leaders National Conference held in Central London on Wednesday of this week. Together with our outstanding Deputy Headteacher Mrs Ash, we were able to network with a number of school leaders from across the country, many of whom have attended mini educational conferences at our school over the last 12 months and witnessed first-hand the superb pedagogy and practice that exists across all classrooms in our vibrant learning community here at BMS.  Sharing the platform with a number of distinguished speakers including Will Smith (the CEO of Greenshaw Learning Trust) and Matthew Syed (British journalist, author, broadcaster and English table tennis international player), it was good to be able to share details about our latest initiative to share best practice across a growing local collaborative.
 A number of delegates expressed an interest in
attending our annual Multi Academy Trust Conference planned for November 4th on the theme of ‘Harnessing the Power of Independent Learning’ and our joint ‘Dive Deeper Day’ taking place on December 4th with Bentley Wood High School – another local outstanding school.
The conference reminded me that our school is full of outstanding staff doing an incredible job with the young people in their care. Just this week I heard from parents praising one of our key leaders in the school in saying:
I just wanted to pass on my appreciation and gratitude for the work of this member of staff…..…this absolutely meant the world to me and showed that they genuinely care for your students. I would be lost without their guidance and support. They are a valuable asset for Bushey Meads and I cannot express in words how thankful I am and will always be, for the input and care that has been shown. They will forever be an important part of my son’s life, changing it for the better without really knowing it. A true gem! Many thanks.

I am just writing to let you know how incredible the Bushey Meads staff have been today. I have been overwhelmed by the support offered by a number of staff. The sense of “family” and “looking after each other” at BMS has enormous value. I am a firm believer that good staff are at the core of any outstanding school and believe that at BMS, staff go out of their way to help others. I thought that it was important to make you aware of just how amazing people have been towards me – I know that it is something that you already know and treasure.
We are very blessed to be working with so many superb, talented and kind colleagues who, together with our hard working students, supportive parent and carers and dedicated Governors and Trustees, make Bushey Meads such a brilliant school.
