Executive Principal’s Blog – 11.9.26: ‘A Great Transition….’

As all students transition back to school in their new year groups, it has been great to see how well they have all started. The new Year 7 students have been particularly impressive and their parents and carers heard a lot of positive feedback from Assistant Headteacher Mr Mitman and the Pastoral Leaders and Character Development Coaches at the ‘Settling In Evening’ held yesterday.

Also, yesterday the Heads of School and the Primary Executive Headteacher in the primary phase of our Multi Academy Trust visited Bushey Meads and saw first-hand how well their own Year 6 students had settled into our secondary school. They commented on the very calm behaviour around the school site and the impressive attitudes to learning shown in all classrooms – all students following the BMS READY expectations.

We have had some really positive feedback from parents and carers about our exemplary transition process which started in the summer term and continues to impact positively this term. Upcoming transition-related events to look forward to include Come Dine with Me on Wednesday 23rd September, the Curriculum Celebration Evening on Thursday 22nd October, the Year 7 Trip on Thursday 5th November and the Year 7 Christmas Party on Thursday 10th December.

This message is one of many emails that we have received acknowledging the programme that we put in place to make the journey to Bushey Meads so successful:

I wanted to also say how amazing the transition schedule has been at Bushey Meads. It’s far superior of any of the local secondary schools for sure. From the transition day itself with the amazing video of their day with drone footage, events, summer camp and the staggered week; all of it! Please send a huge thank you to all staff concerned. Our daughter said she met you this week and you were so kind helping her so thanks again. She has had a great few days so long may it continue! She is + 6R points up so I’m super proud of her! Thanks again!
Kindest Regards, Year 7 Parent

I would like to thank all parents and carers for their support in making the start of this academic year so successful. With very best wishes for a good weekend and don’t forget to click on the link to read about this week’s BMS News…….
