Executive Principal’s Blog – 15.1.21: “Doing Well Under Pressure!”
With the national lockdown message high on everyone’s agenda and a good number of keyworker families quite rightly keeping their children at home, we have had to balance that with the Government’s clear mandate for schools to strongly encourage all vulnerable children and children of keyworkers to attend school in person, in line with the clear DfE guidance:
“Schools are expected to allow and strongly encourage vulnerable children and young people to attend. Parents/carers of vulnerable children and young people are strongly encouraged to take up the place.”
Please do continue to remember that as a school we will always look out for the more vulnerable students in our care and, as the government continue to place growing pressures on schools, we will do our utmost to meet their expectations.
I would like to thank all parents for their continued positive messages of support. They have meant so much to the hard-working staff going the extra mile at this challenging time, particularly this week as we have started to roll out our new enhanced remote learning strategy which has taken a significant amount of planning. The well-known saying ‘a diamond is a chunk of coal that did well under pressure’ reminds me of the incredibly, hardworking, adaptable and inspiring staff I work with, reflected in the two lovely messages from parents amongst many received by the school this week:A huge thank you to all your teachers for providing online lessons. I really appreciate how much effort the teachers are putting into teaching the pupils at home and school at the same time. The online lessons have really made a difference to my daughter. She is happier in herself and is also finding her lessons more enjoyable. Thank you once again.
A less stressed Parent no longer splitting herself in two!
Please pass on my thanks to Mr Turner and all of the hard-working teaching and office staff. I am new to Bushey Meads but I have to say I think you have all handled the pandemic amazingly. The support to the students has been fantastic. Many thanks again to you all.
