Executive Principal’s Blog – 19.5.23: ‘Strengthening Relationships’
One of the real strengths of our school is the family atmosphere and inclusive culture that so many visitors comment on when they spend time in our learning community. Our embedded House System helps to support this and this week it has been really encouraging to witness vertical tutoring taking place across the Houses in CDC time each morning.
Students across the seven Houses here at BMS have been attending cross-age CDC sessions every day and have been getting involved in the Theme of the Week – Adventure. Students have had the chance to develop new friendships across the year groups and have had the opportunity to learn from each other in this slightly different environment. The older students in each group have definitely helped to take the lead and younger students have risen to the occasion to demonstrate their enthusiasm and talents in this safe setting.
The House Assemblies this week have also been a highlight of the week. I was privileged to join Head of House Mr Cox leading Elm House’s Assembly and was really inspired by his encouragement to all students to go on adventures in their learning, both within and beyond the classroom.
For Year 11 and 13 students, don’t forget the second Study Saturday takes place this week from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm in the LRC.
