Executive Principal’s Blog – 20.10.23

At the end of a hugely busy but very productive first half term at Bushey Meads School, it was superb to welcome so many of our Year 7 parents and carers to the school yesterday for our very popular Year 7 Curriculum Celebration Evening.  The student presenters and performers had such confidence to take part with such skill on the main stage, showcasing the brilliant work that our Year 7 students have completed across all curriculum areas so far this term.

Some excellent displays of work were provided by each faculty in the School Restaurant area and parents and students took the opportunity to enjoy the refreshments and admire the quality and creativity on show. The event also saw a 60-student strong Year 7 Singing Group performing – it made for a great joy-packed evening.

We have had many messages of thanks from parents this term; this one was particularly heart-warming:

Dear Mr Turner,
I hope you’re well. I just wanted to send a brief email to express my thanks to your team for their support so far this term and specifically last week. My youngest child started in year 7 and my eldest moved into year 10 – they are very different children, and I have been so impressed with the individualised care and dedication your pastoral and senior leadership teams have shown in supporting their transitions. We have had a couple of bumps along the way and the school has been amazing in helping find a positive way forward – I feel very strongly that both of my children are heard, understood and supported by the school, in a way that goes above and beyond the ‘norm’ (particularly given how stretched all schools are currently in terms of resources/time). You have some truly inspirational staff at your school and I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for this.
Best wishes,
Mother of 2 BMS Students

I would like to thank all our hard-working and inspirational staff, our fantastic students and supportive parents, Governors and Trustees who have all contributed to making the start of this academic year so positive. As always do click on the link to read this week’s BMS News highlighting some of the other things that have been happening.

With very best wishes for a safe and very happy half term.
