Executive Principal’s Blog – 21.6.24: ‘The End of an Era and a New Beginning’

As we come to the end of another exam season, it has been so encouraging for staff to receive so many messages of thanks and praise for their work over many years in supporting the excellent progress of numerous BMS students. Two such messages last week epitomised the sense of gratitude:

Dear Mr. Turner, As today is our daughter’s last “official” day at Bushey Meads, we wanted to take the opportunity to pass on our thanks and appreciation to both yourself and your team….the young lady that leaves you is confident, grounded, determined and kind. Whatever those results say at the end of August sure we will all agree she certainly could not have worked any harder; the impact the school has had on her is undeniable and she would not be the person she is today has she not decided….to come to Bushey Meads. Wishing you all the best,
Year 11 Parents

Dear Mrs Ash, Thank you very much for your assistance in ensuring that our son succeeded in taking all his recent GCSEs. Can I particularly put on record our huge thanks for the amazing support provided by Miss Court….she had a significant impact on his transition back into school. Year 11 Parent

As a school we continue to work very hard for all the young people in our care and continue to receive acknowledgement of the excellent work we are doing; one such message was passed to us last week from a School’s Support Worker in a neighbouring borough.

Bushey Meads reputation has spread to this corner of North West London. One of the lead facilitators here has worked with several past parents of Bushey Meads School, and she has described Bushey Meads as a ‘gold standard of support’ in schools for neuro diversity and inclusion.”

It was the American scholar and novelist Deborah Harkness, best known as a historian and author of one of the New York Times best-selling novels who is quoted as saying that “In every ending there is a new beginning.” A saying so true for our fantastic Year 11 and 13 students now looking forward to their respective proms next week and life in our outstanding Sixth Form or beyond school, in higher level apprenticeships or on degree courses at some of the world’s most prestigious universities.
