Executive Principal’s Blog – 24.4.26: ‘Be Inspired’
An intrinsic part of our Strategic Commitment Purpose and Intent is our commitment to ensuring that all students enjoy reaching their full potential, becoming lifelong learners and positively contributing to society. As we see our students develop through KS3 and 4 and into KS5 they continue to make us extremely proud – none more than student leader and outstanding ambassador Lucy in 12 Elm. In and out of school, Lucy continues to be a brilliant role model for others; recently she led a superb student leadership meeting for all the members of the student councils across our Multi Academy Trust and the pupils at Hartsbourne Primary School and Little Reddings Primary School, as well as all the staff present from the three schools including Bushey Meads, could recognise her incredible leadership qualities and ability to connect and communicate with audiences. Outside of school she is also excelling at the very highest level. One example of this is her work in the Police Cadets. Lucy had been a Police Cadet for four years and in the summer of 2026, she was elected to the role of Head Cadet for Watford Volunteer Police Cadets.
Her proudest moment was when she was nominated and received the role as one of three Chief Constable’s Cadets within Hertfordshire; the photo shows her accepting her badge at an annual Hertfordshire Police Awards Night. As a Police Cadet she has succeeded in gaining the highest position, not only within her Cadet group, but also across all the Cadet groups in the whole of Hertfordshire, due to her dedication, knowledge, enthusiasm and leadership skills. Lucy herself said “Volunteer Police Cadets has been one of the biggest events within my life as it has improved all my personal skills and has helped give me an insight into the Police Force. I went from being nervous, reserved and shy at the age of thirteen to being confident, ambitious and an excellent role model at the age of seventeen. I have had so many amazing experiences and have helped the community.” As we continue to support and encourage all our students to Aspire to Achieve and excel, both in and out of school, be inspired by Lucy’s journey!
