Executive Principal’s Blog – 24.5.24: ‘Support your Teachers in these Challenging Times’
As parents and carers, I am sure that you cannot fail to have seen the repeated headlines of the continued crisis in education – particularly in the area of recruitment. In this area of Hertfordshire, we cannot compete with Outer and Inner London salaries which you can secure only a few miles down the road, so the challenges are compounded.
Just this week I was contacted by two local Headteachers facing the prospect of unfilled vacancies in key posts and an ongoing reliance on supply teachers who, as good as they are, aren’t perhaps as experienced and committed to their school’s ethos and culture as permanent staff.
As parents and carers, I would like to thank you for your support and encourage you to continue to be very sympathetic to the situation we are in. Do also take every opportunity to encourage the excellent staff that we are so lucky to have at Bushey Meads. They all work incredibly hard for the children in our care. One way that you can do this is through the Parent View Survey.
Despite a few reminders over the last three weeks, only 43 parents have responded to the survey. As usual with most surveys they tend to elicit more negative views and the vast majority of people who are happy, remain silent. If you are happy with the school – tell us!
If you have completed the survey in previous years please do complete it again as the previous data does not count in this year’s statistics and we want to get the latest up to date views of the school.
