This morning in school a very special Raising Achievement Assembly was held for all Year 10 and 11 students in our fabulous Main Hall. Year 11 students were reminded about all the excellent revision and study support sessions on offer at this crucial time of their education. They also celebrated the success of a number of hugely important raising achievement initiatives that staff at Bushey Meads School have implemented over the last few months; initiatives that are having such an impact and enabling so many students to achieve the very highest grades possible.
These initiatives include the Reach for the Stars Programme, our brand new Rising Stars Mentoring Programme, the Passport to the Prom being launched on Monday and our English, Maths and Science additional tutor group and lunchtime and after school sessions. In addition the revision and intervention programmes taking place across all subjects during the week, during evenings and school holidays and the Year 11 Raising Achievement Sessions facilitated by Mr Back our hard working and inspirational Learning Resource Centre (LRC) Manager for all Year 11 students were also highlighted.
The highlight of the assembly was the celebration of the success of over 80 students who have already completed their European Computer Driving License (ECDL) GCSE – many of them passing with top A* and A grades.
We were delighted that our dedicated Chair of Governors Di Hoeksma was able to attend the assembly and present the certificates to all the superb students who had achieved such great results.
It was very important for all the Year 10 students to be part of the very special assembly, as this will be them and sooner than they think! As a school we will be enabling all Year 10 students to taste the same success later in the year and of course benefit from all the different raising achievement initiatives on offer at Bushey Meads School in the important run up to their own GCSEs in 2016 and 2017.
As always I would like to thank the extremely hardworking staff across the school for really ‘going the extra mile’ for all our students at this crucial time. It is certainly very impressive to see.
