Executive Principal’s Blog – 3.3.23 ‘Every Child Matters’
At this important stage of the year it is impressive to see how many different raising achievement initiatives are taking place with our examination cohorts to ensure that all students, whatever their ability, are being supported to truly achieve their true potential.
Yesterday I joined Senior Assistant Headteacher Ms Knowles and More Able Coordinator Mr Harrop at the launch event of the Time2Shine initiative in the Sixth Form Centre. It was a privilege to join the group of hard-working students (all aiming for those top grades at GCSE level) and their supportive parents and carers at the event.
This programme, which includes a trip to Balliol College Oxford, is just one of many initiatives being offered in the school.Other students are part of our Sixth Form ‘Elevate to Excel’ or the Year 11 ‘Rising Stars’ mentoring schemes. Some students attend special revision sessions at lunchtime and after school, others take part in pilot schemes to trial out new learning platforms such as Tassomai, a core of students are making the most of the regular sessions in the LRC at lunchtime and of course all students in Year 11 and 13 will be able to access our very popular Study Saturdays in the weeks preceding the real GCSEs, building on the success of the latest round of Pre-Public Exams (PPEs).I would like, as always, to thank all the dedicated staff for going the extra mile for the students in their care and for enabling all of them to access at least one or more of these additional raising achievement initiatives on offer at Bushey Meads; it is impressive and not something that takes place in all schools.
