Executive Principal’s Blog – 4.11.22 ’The secret to getting ahead…’
This week I have been spending time visiting Year 8 lessons and have been very impressed with the excellent start to this new half term that the students have made. They have demonstrated an excellent focus on learning, are all following our Keys to Success and the One Voice Rule in classrooms and taking great pride in Aspiring to Achieve in everything that they do.
It was a privilege to award two Year 8 students R2s for their exemplary use of purple pen and for responding so thoroughly and regularly to the teacher’s feedback and also meaningful peer assessment comments made by their peers. This was in Advanced Lead Teacher Mr Johnson’s English lesson.
In an exemplary Year 8 PE lesson another of our Advanced Lead Teachers, Mr Harris was providing appropriate challenge to move all the students on in their learning – developing their skills of serving in table tennis. All the students were following the One Voice rule as he explained the next steps and were really enjoying the practical challenge of the lesson; all engaged and trying their best. It was great to see!
Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, entrepreneur, publisher and lecturer. William Faulkner called him ‘the father of American literature’ and he has been quoted as saying “The secret to getting ahead is getting started.” This week our Year 8 cohort have made for a brilliant start to the half term and we wish them well with their continued learning as they definitely ‘get ahead’.
I would like to thank all our hard-working staff and indeed all students for making the start of this half term so positive and for you as parents and carers for your continued support.
