Executive Principal’s Blog – 5.3.21: “A New Chapter Begins”
This week has been another very positive week in school and started on Monday morning with us welcoming the Lead Public Health Consultant in Hertfordshire overseeing education, Dr Alison Frater to Bushey Meads School. She came primarily to visit our outstanding Lateral Flow Test Centre and was incredibly impressed with the quality of the provision, the organisation and general operation of, not only the LFT Centre, but also the whole school and how well we have adapted to Covid-19. It was a real testimony to everyone’s dedication and hard work this term.
As we all know Monday marks another milestone and a huge thank you goes to all staff, students, parents and carers and Governors for the part that they have all played this term as one chapter ends and a new one begins as we welcome all students back to school. The previous chapter has brought its unique challenges but one thing remains and that’s our collective desire to always put children first.
Despite the complexities of education in lockdown over the last two months we have: set up an outstanding Lateral Flow Test Centre and facilitated over 1000 tests, embraced Live Lessons, delivered a Teacher Toolkit across the Trust, welcomed over 300 students (key workers unable to stay at home and more vulnerable children) back to school since January, enjoyed a 2 Day Staff Conference, still published a great newsletter every week, submitted a £800 000 bid for a new Specialist Resource Provision at the school, held Full Governor and Committee meetings and training sessions, continually shared best practice, continued to support our examinations classes in this uncertain landscape, recruited some great new staff and appointed existing staff to exciting new roles in the school and encouraged and supported so many students throughout this term. A huge thank you and best wishes to you all for next week.
