A well-known quote reminds us that “It is people of excellence who go the extra mile to do what is right” and, with that in mind, I would like to thank all the hard working staff at Bushey Meads who always look to go the extra mile for the students in their care and indeed those in our wider community.
Normally at this time of year we offer a Secondary School Experience Week to all the Year 6 students in our Multi Academy Trust, irrespective of whether or not they are intending to join us here in September. This year, despite the understandable restrictions, we are still able to offer them Secondary School Experience Days. Attending in their Year Bubbles of up to 15 children, they have arrived for a secondary school type assembly and enjoyed a variety of lessons starting with a well-planned geographical orienteering task around the school site.
Our outstanding SENDCo Mrs Dillon and her fabulous team have also arranged a number of individual and group visits for many students who have perhaps needed some additional support at what can be a very stressful time (Covid-19 or not) and all of the students who have been welcomed by her team have thoroughly enjoyed their visits to the school. Parents have also provided so much positive feedback for what we as a school have done to support the journey from the primary to secondary phase of their education; it has been so encouraging to hear.
That journey is punctuated by significant moments in time and I would encourage you all to take the time to click on the link below and enjoy watching our Online Rewards Evening event orchestrated by Deputy Headteacher Mrs Ash and ably assisted by our hard working Administration Officer and Reception Manager Mrs Jackman and Mr Furr our BSJT IT Manager. If you weren’t awarded one of the prestigious prizes this year do be inspired by those that did and do listen carefully to the motivational and immensely wise words of our ex Head Girl Amira who was our guest of honour at this year’s event.
With best wishes for a good weekend and as usual don’t forget to click on the link to this week’s BMS News.
