Executive Principal’s Blog – 24 May 2019 – Maximising those opportunities.
I would like to thank all staff at BMS for really going the extra mile this half term for our hardworking students – particularly those who are sitting their all-important public examinations. The additional two hour final revision sessions led by our top teachers have been very powerful indeed; students have also been making the most of the free banana ‘brain fuel’ on offer in the school restaurant before each exam and bottles of water for hydration in the gym.
Over the next two Saturdays between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm there are our usual general Study Saturdays in the LRC as well as GCSE Maths revision sessions taking place. This will really help to sharpen revision on the key topics that are likely to come up, so don’t’ miss these powerful sessions that will help you nail the extra 10%!
As we look forward to our next Marking and Feedback Fortnight I would like to remind all other students to go through their exercise books very carefully this half term and ensure that all marking and feedback stickers have been completed properly and spelling, punctuation and grammar corrections have been made.
Do ensure that you have also responded to those powerful instructions and comments that all teachers are giving you to ensure that you really maximise the progress you are making at BMS. Research shows that, if you get this process right, you can add the equivalent of an additional 9 months learning in one year.
This week I have been inspired by some of the new Year 6 students we have talked to in our Year 6 induction interviews, conducted by members of our Leadership and Pastoral Teams – students aspiring to become marine biologists, talented in the arts and sporting arenas, even those who already speak two languages fluently!
It has been a very busy, but hugely productive half term, so do make sure you take some time to re-charge your batteries and enjoy a good rest over the half term period. Don’t forget to also click on the link to read about the rest of this week’s BMS News……..
