Executive Principalā€™s Blog – 31.01.20:Ā Collaboration is the oxygen of school improvement!

As we all continue to learn from the very best practitioners and leaders across our education system to support our exciting, ongoing journey of improvement at Bushey Meads School, it was a real privilege for Senior Assistant Headteacher Mr Searle and I to hear Sir David Carter speak at the By Leaders for Leaders National Conference in London on Tuesday of this week. One of the things he reminded us of was that collaboration is the oxygen of school improvement.

By Leaders for Leaders is a growing collaborative built around a strong culture of having that open willingness to learn from one another, sharing best practice for the benefit of, not only the students in our own schools, but also those in other schools across the country. As one of the leading schools in this national organisation we are able to stand on the edge of the best practice and ensure that an outstanding educational provision is given to all students at Bushey Meads School.

In a similar vein, it is a privilege for me to serve as a Director on the Trust Board of one of the highest performing schools in the country, the Wren Academy in Barnet. Whenever I go to visit as I did on Monday evening for their Directorsā€™ briefing (pictured below is the Executive Principal Gavin Smith speaking at the event, a leader I have worked alongside for some 13 years now) it is very much a two way process, mutually benefiting both schools and all the students and staff in our care.

Outstanding leaders understand that inactivity is the poison of success; we continue to take your childrenā€™s education very seriously and have that strong desire to learn from the very best to ensure we never become complacent and that we continue to provide them with absolutely every chance in life to achieve their true potential.

Thank you as always for your ongoing support and for being key stakeholders in our exciting journey to greatness. As always, don’t forget to click on the link to read about more about this weekā€™s BMS News……..
