Executive Principal’s Blog – 8.10.21: ‘Doing the Right Thing’
As a school we really value everything that makes our community special and in particular the rich diversity and variety of backgrounds that our key stakeholders represent. We are all different, all unique, all special and each one of us have immense value as members of our inclusive community here at BMS.
As we move into Black History Month it has been inspirational to be part of some superb assemblies led this week by Assistant Headteacher Mr Varsani. As well as taking time to celebrate the significant contributions of some amazingly inspirational figures from history and more recent years, he reminded us of the 3 Rs at our school that also clearly underpinned their important values.
He also played a moving video clip of Maya Angelou the famous American poet and civil rights activist who published no less than seven autobiographies, several books of poetry and who is also credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years. She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees so is clearly someone worth listening to and learning from!
We all desire to ‘grow well’ and to grow and develop the children in our care and that includes taking care of our souls – that deep inner most part of our beings. Do take 3 minutes of your time to click on the link below and we hope it helps to also shape and satisfy your souls:
Maya Angelou – Be Inspired!
I particularly loved how Maya says ”right may not be expedient, it may not be profitable, but it will satisfy your soul.” At the end of another very successful week at BMS, don’t forget to click on the link to read more about this week’s BMS News……..
